A Note of Sympathy

Being a Family owned company, we are always saddened to hear about the passing of extended family members.

Two of our employees recently lost loved ones and we would like to take a moment to offer our condolences to these two members of the Ricker Oil Company Family.

To Dori Stump on the passing of her Grandmother and to Michelle Carney on the passing of her Mother.

On behalf of Ricker Oil Company Family, our deepest sympathies and thoughts go to you and your families during your time of loss.

Recognition Roundup

Chelsea Call wanted to recognize her team for their hard work.  Thanks for sharing Chelsea! We love to see a team work well together!

I wanted to give a big shout out to my entire team.  They worked so hard to ensure the store was ready for study group.  They all stepped up and did things without even being asked and offered me so much support and assistance.  It really warmed my heart to see everyone come together as a team even more than normal.  We even had a customer bring in pizzas for the entire team.  He came in and asked why I was here so late since he saw me around seven that morning.  I told him that we were showing off the store, so we were making sure we were in good shape.  He said everyone here works so hard and is always so friendly that it was his way of saying thank you and good job.  The staff, including corporate, and the customers are the reason this job is so enjoyable.  I feel blessed to be a part of the Ricker family, and I am glad that we proved once again that we are best in class!  I couldn’t do it without my amazing team of superstars!!!!

Our 116th Street Team had a medical emergency and the whole team stayed Cool, Calm and Collective! Great Job Deborah, Travis and Brent!!

We had a customer go into a diabetic seizer in front of the POS.  Luckily, we had another customer here who had experience in recognizing and responding to seizers.  Travis and the customer helped keep the man upright and cool.  Before anyone could say “Call 911” our CSR Deborah Shaw, was already on the phone with the emergency operator giving our location.  She stayed on line with them until the ambulance arrived.  She stayed calm and focused through the entire ordeal.  Since everything was happening directly in front of her register she decided to stay busy wiping counters and stocking cups.  I ran the register and helped the customers coming in. Travis moved everything out of the way for the EMT’s.  We all did our part and responded with calm precision.

Travis and I spoke after the EMT’s and customers were out of the store and we both agree that Deborah deserves a WOW pin for her quick response and cool head.  She definitely showed the type of customer service that Ricker’s stands for, even in extreme conditions.

Recognition Roundup

We received a shout out for Sherri Bailey at our Central Store.  Sherri is really friendly and also efficient at what she does.  If she can help you in any way, she’ll do it.  She wanted to call and let us know how great she is.  Julie worked at Pay Less/Kroger for 9 years so she knows customer service.  Some people have it and some people don’t.  Sherri has it.

Also a shout out from Judy to a special customer and her amazing employees-

A customer named Leslie went on vacation. She went on a cruise and she brought back a gift for Diane, two of my employees and me. I think this is great. She thought of us while on vacation. Even though we cannot receive gifts from our customers this should say a lot about our CSR’s. They are awesome.

We couldn’t agree more! You have an awesome WOW-worthy team at the Point!

Now a shout out to Theresa Rains from Associate Manger Dori Stump.

I would like to take a second to give a shout out to one of our Employees. A lady and her 2 kids came into the store the other day and once they reached the counter the little girl picked up one of the .99 cent bracelets we have and asked her Mother if she could have one. Her Mother then reminded her that she was on her way to start her new job, first day and she couldn’t afford it. She was paying for their breakfast with her food stamp card. Theresa told the two kids to both pick out a bracelet that she would buy them. The little girl looked up at Theresa and said, “I know for sure you’re going to Heaven”. Of all the years I have worked for Rickers I have never heard a young child say anything to that nature. It was very beautiful. Theresa made the day of those little children and the Mother was so grateful how excited her two kids were all over a bracelet. Little things like this make me honored to have a wonderful staff and to know how well our Customers are being treated.

A Farewell, An Announcement, and Recognition

A Farewell from Keeli LeVart

As most of you know, Friday will be my last day with Rickers. Goodbye is always hard. But this one does come with some good. So first the good! My husband and I have the opportunity to move back to my hometown in Illinois where my parents and older brothers still live. This will also put us very close to his family as well. I have been offered a position as the Assistant Director of the Rend Lake College Foundation and have happily accepted. It combines two of my favorite things- Event Planning and Accounting! It’s an opportunity that we could not pass up.

It has been my pleasure to spend the last two years with such an amazing group of people. I have never worked for a company that spends so much time building each other up. It sets this company apart from every competitor. No matter how far away I go, Ricker’s will always be my favorite C-store! I will miss each of you.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank you for the last two years. I’ll leave you with something I learned during my MBA trip to Europe.  Instead of saying Goodbye, they say - I wish you success in all your future endeavors. That is my  hope for you. Success in whatever you set out to accomplish!

Now I just have to figure out how to get Ricker Pop and square donuts in Illinois (especially those bacon ones!) J

Now a shout out to the East 38th Street Store from Customer Betsy Taylor-

I am a State Fair FREAK!  I stop into the Ricker's at Fall Creek and 38th Street to get a bottle of water oftentimes when I'm either going to the Fair or leaving it.  I also attend events year round at the fairgrounds.  Your employees at this particular location are ALWAYS polite and either thank me or wish me a good day!  They are a joy to deal with!  Speedway higher-ups/employees need to take a lesson from you guys!

Way to WOW our customers East 38th! You are all Superstars!
