Weekly Recognition Round-up, April 30, 2014

When things get rough, our Superstars step up!

Luke Wahlberg, CSR, Flex PoolFrom Manager Ryan Hamilton: “On 4-16-14, while helping cover our store Luke aided Betsy, one of our full0time CSR’s after a customer had taken four packs of cigarettes off the counter and left without paying for them. After the customer ran out of the store, Luke ran outside and memorized the license plate number and the make and model of the vehicle. The police that showed up on the scene said that the plate number was a match to that vehicle, so they have already identified the suspect. Great job fighting crime, Luke! Batman would be proud and Rickers is too!”

Sherri Bailey, CSR, CentralFrom Manager MJ Stewart: “Just wanted to thank Sherri Bailey for helping a customer whose blood sugar dropped while in the store. Sherri stopped what she was doing and went and got the lady a chair, orange juice, and stayed with her until the her husband could get there. This isn’t the 1st time Sherri has helped a customer like this. She has gone out and helped pump gas for customers who needed assistance. Thank you Sherri.” You are definitely a SUPERSTAR!

Willard Chilton, AM at 71st Street and Luke Wahlberg, CSR, Flex PoolFrom Manager Ryan Hamilton: “I just wanted to give an email Shout Out and a big “Atta Boy!” to Willard and Luke.  Our Associate Manager had a medical emergency.  I was going to have to cover third shift last night, and after this happened, a 6a-6p shift today as well.  These guys stepped up and helped out when it was needed most, doing what they could to split the shift in order to help out my store in such a time of need.  Thanks a lot guys!” We are lucky to have SUPERSTARS like you!

Carlos Huizar, CSR, Exit 10From Manager Adam McMillan: “Carlos impressed me yesterday when I met him. I told him that everything for him to do was done until he got busier in 2 hours and he spoke up and asked me to leave him the Jason cleaning list so he could work on that while he had the extra time!” Way to leave the mark of a SUPERSTAR!

She is an amazing individual to watch and the store is truly reaping the benefits of her work! Ashley is one of the reasons that the store is so successful. Congratulations Ashley!

One day at lunch I sat down to enjoy a sandwich in the Park One Subway. The lunch crowd began to come in and Angie started talking it up to the customers. Then Roxanne came in and started talking to the customers. It's like they have known them for years. The two of them are chatting with the customers and getting the lunches out quickly. It was amazing! All the while, the line was all the way to the door. But every customer was spoken to and there were many happy faces. It was truly a WOW event and it was awesome! I am very proud!" We are too! Great job Angie!

Roxanna Garvin, Park One (#26) From Tracy Fowler: "Roxanne and I were working on the candy shelf and a little girl came up and poked Roxanne as if to scare her. The little girl proceeded to tell Roxanne that it was her 6th birthday and about the party that was planned for the evening. Roxanne bought the little girl her favorite Bug Juice and Treat for her Birthday. I found out later that the little girl had been coming into our store since she was in diapers. The little girl gets really excited now to come in to see Roxanne because it is usually only during breaks from school." Way to keep the customers coming back for more and making customers for life! Weekly Recognition Roundup-April 10th

We asked for your amazing stories and you didn’t disappoint! From jump starting cars to saving customers lives-- read on to find out more about the truly remarkable employees we have at Rickers!

Dawn Walsh, CSR, #35 Brownsburg—From Associate Manager Kat McDowell: Dawn Walsh is the definition of WOW!  SHE SAVED A CUSTOMERS LIFE! A woman came into the store on 3rd shift, said she thought she was having a heart attack, and then collapsed by the registers.  Dawn immediately sprang into action with her medical background.  She checked the woman’s pulse, which was weak, and called 911.  Dawn stayed with her the entire time monitoring her. Then, the woman’s heart stopped.  Dawn gave CPR chest compressions while continuing to monitor her condition.  She was calm, cool & collected the whole time until the ambulance came. If it wasn’t for Dawn being here, that woman would probably not be alive today. Thank you Dawn for being such an amazing, wonderful person! You went above and beyond the call of duty! Dawn YOU give a whole new meaning to the term SUPERSTAR!

Lamar Wilson, Store Manager, #18 Ninth Street – From CSR Candice Welch: “Lamar at the 9th street store helped me out big time! I had a long line of customers and he came into use the ATM. He saw that I was swamped and helped me with filling cups! Thanks a lot friend. He is the true example of ‘There is no I in team!’” Way to step in and help out Lamar!

Amber Wielinski, CSR, #77 Clover Road – From a Customer: “I was at Rickers in Noblesville last week and I saw Amber do something pretty great. I was pumping my gas and I noticed Amber walk over to a car and get out jumper cables. She then asked a gentleman with a truck if he would come help jump start another customer’s car. She didn’t have to offer the jumper cables and I think it is pretty spectacular that you have employees that are willing to go above and beyond to help their customers.” Thanks for stepping up to help out our customers in need Amber! You are a SUPERSTAR!

Lynette Gregory, CSR, #37 Plainfield & I-70 – From Manager Ryan Hamilton: “When I came into the store the other morning, there was a used gas can sitting on the floor in the back room. I asked the 1st shift employees if they knew about it and they did not. After asking the 2nd shift employees about it, I found my answer. An elderly customer had come in upset, believing that she had been overcharged for her gas. She thought that the calibration on the pump was off. Lynette, one of my newer CSR’s (but one that is knowledgeable beyond her tenure with Ricker’s), purchased a gas can and the gallon of fuel that the woman believed she had been shorted, proceeded to fill it up in front of the woman, and put it in her car for her . This not only showed the woman how concerned Ricker’s is that we aren’t cheating our customers, but how we go the extra mile to show them we care!” Fantastic Job Lynette! Way to show how a Ricker employee shines!

Darteresa Ballard, CSR, #41 Plainfield & US-40 – From Associate Manager Vanessa Blake: On Wednesday 4/2/14, Darteresa was working the register on second shift. She was asked by a customer if we take checks. Upon telling him we do not she also told him it isn’t worth spending a night in Hendricks County. After saying this to him again and asking him to put the items he had hidden on the counter, he pulled out 2 cans of spam and a milky way. She told him that if she would have had the money she would have gotten it for him and he needed to finish out his evening elsewhere. She handled this incident with great poise and demeanor. WAY TO GO DARTERESA!

South Meridian Crew, #36—From a customer, “I would like to thank the crew at South Meridian. I never fail to see a smiling face with a warmer welcome. Thank you guys, keep up the great work, you are appreciated.” Way to rock it South Meridian Crew!

Weekly Recognition Roundup

We have some amazing superstars that work at Rickers. Read on to see more about some of the great ideas our employees come up with and the ways they are going the extra mile for our customers!

Erika Findlay – Assistant Manager at Broadway: From Manager Chelsea Call at Store 24, “I wanted to send a shout out to the Broadway AM, Erika for coming up with the “Shout out board” idea! I love the positive feedback the board has created. This will help us build an even stronger team and help the store morale. You deserve recognition for helping us recognize our superstars! Keep the good ideas coming!”

The Employees of Applewood and Scatterfield: From a customer, “The employees at the Applewood Ricker's and the one across the street (both at the intersection of 59th and Scatterfield in Anderson) have some of the best employees. They're more like friends, and are always happy to help out, share a laugh, etc. I have a torn rotator cuff and if I have a lot I have to carry out and there is someone to cover them for a quick second (or if there are no other customers); they will help me carry my items out to my vehicle. I think both stores deserve to have their managers and employees recognized for being so friendly, helpful, and having such great looking stores.” Amazing job Applewood and Scatterfield!

Randall Brock—District Manager Anderson West: From Manager Chelsea Call at Store 24, “I wanted to give a shout to Randall. At our meeting in March he had several managers speak up and thank him. They voiced that he has been in the stores more, helped more, and provided support and feedback to make us better. It is not often that the manager speaks up like that. I know it warmed my heart and made me proud to be on his team. Awesome job Randall!”

Prince Ostine—CSR at West 38th St: From a customer, “Prince Ostine always shares a laugh...polite and courteous to the customers...he is there all the time...literally. He should get a day off for all the hours he puts in or at least some recognition for his dedication!” What a way to wow our customers Prince!

If you know an employee that deserves recognition for the great things they do—let us know! Send us a message on Facebook or send an email to Keeli LeVart at klevart@rickers.net.

Thank you for all you do!
